Today we're going to be talking about eight tips for what to do when you feel hopeless or discouraged.
Our first tip is to realize that this is not who you are, it is just how you feel right now.
That can really help give you a little bit more encouragement. Who you are as a person is precious and priceless. You are valuable. You matter. People love you.
Even if you feel sad, realize that that's not who you are. You're not a sad person. You're just having sad feelings.
Happy people have projects. If you are not feeling particularly happy, you need to ask yourself “Do I have a project that I'm working on?” If you don't, try to find project to work on. This gives you a purpose and that will really encourage you. It'll give you something to do and it will take your mind off the depression. It will focus you on something productive.
Consider H.A.L.T. Are you hungry, angry, lonely, or tired? Those are some physical things that might be affecting how you feel mentally and emotionally. If you are, figure out what you can do to help. For example, if you're hungry, have a snack. If you're angry, figure out why you're angry. Is there anything that you can do to help the situation? And if not, it’s something that you need to let go of. If you're lonely get around happy people. If you're tired, take a nap.
Try meditation. If you’re inexperienced with meditation, try guided meditations. YouTube, and the Internet in general has tons of guided meditation MP3s. Try them. I'm sure it will help in some way Give to or serve others. When you’re around other people, then your problems become a lot smaller and you can see them a lot more realistically. Also helping other people makes you feel happy. It makes you feel good and positive. So, helping other people helps them and it helps you.
This last tip is the solution to your problem if you’re feeling down. If you’re not counting your blessings you will soon lead into depression. If your mind is not purposefully focusing on the things that are good in your life, depression may soon follow. Everyday just write down five things that you're grateful for. It’s very easy to do and it will boost your happiness.
The next tip is to get around other happy people. Happiness and positivity are contagious. If you're around other people who are happy, that can really help you to become happier. Go outside if you have not been outside. You will get depressed if you don’t. Sunlight is essential for all people.
You might even notice in 90% our videos we're outside. It's good to make it a point to be outside. It's our natural environment. Humans should be in their natural environment. It’s a wonderful thing to do and you will feel happier.
